The pieces of fabric in the scrap bags can vary greatly in size and condition. Some are beginnings and ends of bolts. Since we only sell cut yardage in full yards, we can't sell pieces that are less than a yard. So there can be pieces that are just under a yard, and there can be tiny strips of fabric as well. Some pieces have flaws and some don't. Everything is crumpled and stuffed into a bag, so it's all quite wrinkled. We try to separate silks from everything else, but we can't guarantee that silk bags will be 100% silk. There are 3 types of silk scrap bags; velvet, colored, and everything else. The bags we call cotton are mostly cotton with some blends. The specialty bags are hemps, linen, rayon, and blends.

I purchased the bag of mostly silks.The only thing wrong with this offer is that it runs out so quickly. I clearly understand that it takes a while to generate the amount of scraps necessary to create 3 lb bags. I consider this to be the BEST fabric deal ever.

Not at all what I was expecting but that is not a bad thing. I thought this was a good way to get some muslin and kona for scrappy hand-dyed quilts. I got everything else--canvas linen wool rayon but it's so much fun. So bummed that the silk bags are out of stock now.

Great value for the price! I bought the "mostly cotton" bag for running dye tests. Some of the pieces are nearly a yard - big enough to make clothes for my kids. Home run guys!!

I loves these!! I teach dye and smocking classes so the scraps are perfect for my students. it helps me keep costs low for them. And I have been having a blast combining both the silk scraps and the cotton scraps with vintage laces and linens to make new clothing. The broad range has really allowed for experimentation. Thank you!!

These scrap bags are perfect for making baby clothes and baby quilts. I love all the different textures and fabric types -- so much fun to make appliques and add custom colors to the baby clothes!

I picked up a bag of specialty fabrics in the last round. Overall I loved it! My biggest qualm is simply that I'm not sure what I'm working with!! Some of these fabrics are INCREDIBLE and I want more yardage but I have NO clue what it is! I wish they were marked in some way - even a little number written in permanent marker in a corner of a scrap that corresponds to a number in a list. Yes I know that it is the specialty bag... but that means I'm guessing amongst 4 different basic materials let alone weights!

I purchased the silk fabric bag and it was full of torn holed jersey with runs through it and silk(?)gauze so fine and stiff it can't be used for apparel or even scarves. Some sort of utility fiber? Basically useless so thin I can't even use it for swatch testing. I genuinely feel as though I paid $15 to dispose of someone else's garbage. I wish I had put the money towards a yard or two of habotai.

Sad to see none of the reviews mention significant landfill reduction. Dharma trading deserves a tremendous amount credit for its efforts putting integrity over profits. The fact that it fills a niche for textile artist means less carbon in the atmosphere. A few years ago mentioned to a customer service gal that had begun to use warn out clothes for my textile art- upcycle and she said "cool" that is integrity over profit.

Excellent deal. I purchased the silk bag and while the bulk was white there was a nice assortment of colors. This is perfect for testing different dye colors andor silk painting. I may even let me primary school aged kids try fabric dying with this (I only have acid dyes). Only con is that there is only a limited supply - I'm hesitant to rate it highly as that means I'll have to compete with more people for a bag!
