I'm thrilled with this cowl! It's extremely sumptuous over 17 ounces of alpaca. I don't think you can buy the yarn for this price. I plan to leave it the natural color which is more ivory and less cream colored than wool which is good.

My mom bought this for my as a gift (at my request). It feels almost silky and will be perfect to wear in place of a coat when traveling from the cold upper Midwest to the tropics!

I removed the outer edge and dyed this as an gradient with Acid Dyes and the microwave. It took the dye beautifully. I am now going to unravel it and knit it into a big gradient shawl. It's a two-strand alpaca so I suppose it could even be split if someone wanted to use it as a fingering yarn. As it is two-strand it's a heavy worsted or aran weight.

It was beautiful before dyeing... and we used Dharma fiber reactive dyes... now it's smaller than a placemat shedding horribly and it's extremely stiff. Definitely not wearable. What an expensive item to be so flawed!!! VERY disappointed.
