Some time ago we got interested in silk/wool blends. So we set about the task of sourcing them and found several. After narrowing down the selection to a lightweight and a heavyweight blend, we placed our orders for fabric and scarves. Well, something happened, which I cannot now recall, and we only received the heavyweight fabric and the lightweight scarves. Unfortunately, we had all kinds of problems with the heavyweight fabric, but the lightweight scarves were beautiful!
So finally, here it is: Lovely - the same fabric our silk/wool scarves are cut from. Lightweight and semi-sheer, this fabric is softer than wool, but warmer than silk!
Fabric Details
- 63% silk / 37% wool blend fabric
- 12.5mm, which is about the weight of 12mm Crepe de Chine- 55" wide
- You can dye this with Acid Dyes
- Suggested usage; great for scarves, shawls, shirts..
- Has a diagonal weave
- We found that this shrinks 7% in Length and 1% in Width disclaimer
- Available in cut yardage (bulk discounts levels at 10+ yds.) and in 52 yard bolts
Remember, bolts vary! They can be over or under - we charge you for the actual yardage. If you need very specific yardage, order cut yardage.

lovely soft fabric with a great drape---irons well. Using it for eco printing and it takes the dye beautifully. One drawback is it's very delicate and easily pierced even with foliage that's not sharp

Very impressed with the weight and feel of the fabric. There is a added softness after washing that makes it especially appealing. Will be ordering more in the future for those very specially scarfs. Hope you keep this as a staple in your line ALWAYS as I can not find it anywhere but here.

this is a very nice fabric - ordered it first as scarves and made several dye tests and they dyed great. Best thing is the weight and warmth. Perfect! Ordering yardage now. Love it!

This is a dreamy fabric that loves loves loves dye! YOu can use natural dyes or procion and get great deep colors you just don't get with other fabrics! If I was going to marry a fabric this would be the ONE. The scarves in this fabric are also great.

Fabric is very lightweight and not easily adapted to garment sewing. Would make a good shawl or stole

This gorgeous silk blend fabric has a gentle twill weave that adds bounce to its dreamy drape! Washed it by hand in Eucalan and warm water (and rinsed it after). Even softer after washing and makes a fantastic wrap! This piece is a gift for a friend going through chemo who loves the feather weight warmth and softness! Will be buying more very soon!

i used this fabric yesterday to do natural dyeing. it dyes beautifully! its soft flowing and stood up to the process of mordanting and dyeing like a champ. it still has a beautiful hand. thanks for a new go to fabric.i am actually on the site to order more.

I planned to use for eco printing but have decided to dye or paint due to texture. I also found it shrank 9% rather than 7% in length.

WOW! I just received this fabric and I am blown away! It is so soft and flowing. The diagonal weave gives the fabric an Amazing drape. I haven't dyed it just yet but have given it a wash (light cycle with synthrope) and it came out beautifully! I didn't notice any shrinkage in the width and about 8"-9" in the over all length. That's only around 5%(very approximate number!) shrinkage in length and I feel that's quite acceptable. What I loved is how very bouncy it is. It of course feels like a lovely bias cut luxury fabric without the waste that you have left when you cut in the bias with regular weave fabric! This is truly a very luxurious piece of fabric! I can hardly wait to see how richly it takes the dye. It is so beautiful as is that I may buy more just to leave it the natural rich cream that it is naturally but not this first one. Thank you Dharma for yet another super quality fabric!

Beautiful lightweight twill fabric. I purchased this to create an outer facing for a kirtle to wear to renn faire this year hoping for a lightweight woollen-feel fabric since we live in a steamy climate. Gorgeous sheer slinky fabric with a woollen hand. It took up natural dyes beautifully and once backed with muslin for the bodice and pleated for the skirt it's quite opaque and looks much thicker and heavier than it is. I was initially concerned it would be way too lightweight to use but it's shockingly well suited to this project! Great value gorgeous fabric.

I bought this last year to paint large scarves. I loved it so much I bought 10 more yards this year to make wraps. This fabric makes a gorgeous wrap drapes like silk but is soft and warm like a light pashmina. Takes acid dyes beautifully. Oh I was initially concerned about the wool shrinking or felting when washing- it DOES NOT. Washes just like other silk fabric.

This fabric is rough and feels like polyester. What happened? I expected something really soft and this is not. It is sheer but what I was shipped feels like the thin white polyester curtains from Ikea.
