The Mercedes of silks, a luxurious silk with a slightly crinkled "crepe" texture and a gentle, graceful drape, plus a very soft hand. Has a smooth surface that lends itself well to all types of painting styles. For those of you who want the incredible feel of silk next to your skin, but don't like it's super shiny, showier cousins, Satin and Charmeuse, this fabric is perfect with its subtle sheen and lovely texture. Ideal weight for all types of clothing and decorating.
Fabric Details
- 100% Crepe de Chine Silk
- 16mm, 45" and 55" wide
- You can dye this with Acid Dyes.
- We found that this shrinks 13% in Length and 8% in Width disclaimer
- Available in cut yardage (bulk discounts levels at 10+ yds.) and 54 yard bolts in the 55" and 56 yard bolts in the 45"
- Machine wash in any temperature water
Remember, bolts vary! They can be over or under - we charge you for the actual yardage. If you need very specific yardage, order cut yardage.

Not quite what I expected when I ordered. I probably wanted the 30mm. Don't get me wrong this is a great fabric! Very nice fabric but a bit more sheer than I wanted. I will still use and enjoy it but if you want a heavy weight crepe go for the 30mm. This one is quite light weight similar to the silk satin. I will dye this fabric as it is too sheer for the blouse I'd planned on making. I guess that is why they have swatches! Something to consider before you order.

It's great fabric. A few flaws here and there in the 50 yard bolt but that is to be expected in any fabric. The one thing that I noticed is that it is not as heavy as the 16 mm I get from a different company. They are so different it would be helpful if someone did a weight check to see if it is actually 16mm. Otherwise it looks great and when dyed it's still lovely.

I use this fabric for lampshades and because light passes through I have to be extra careful of the defects inconsistencies in the weave.

I have used this fabric to line other lightweight fabrics such as thin cotton and silk to decrease the sheerness and improve the body and comfort of the garment.

This was a bit too sheer in the white for my intended purpose. It washed beautifully. I expect it will sew as nicely as the black version when I find another use for it.

Nice fabric but a few flaws here and there like slubs and broken yarns. I always expect some flaws in every fabric. When making a hand painted garment using the entire piece it is disappointing to see a flaw after painting.

This is beautiful better than I expected and a great price for the width. MUCH cheaper than in the UK and quality as good if not better. Bulk Airmail not the quickest but at least you give a choice of options for the shipping and on small orders Bulk Airmail is not much different to the postage in the UK for fabric to be sent 200 miles never mind across the ocean. Thank you!
