Woven in China with 100% light weight cotton with zig zagged cotton thread hems. Not exactly gauze, more like a Hankie weight fabric. They dye brilliantly and are good for hand painting as an alternative to silk. Light as a feather, less transparent when dyed, there are dozens of ways to use and wear them. The sarong is particularly nice as a beach cover up. Tie-dye it or dye it a solid color to match something else. Or just add a vivid splash of color to your wardrobe!

i prefer the lighter weight gauzier ones made in india i think. these are nice but alot heavier... :(

I am going to stick with the silk and the bamboo rayon. These are definitely NOT gauze or even gauze-like. They are stiff even after washing several times. Plus they don't take color well. I purchased several to try including the sarong. They are unusable. I wish I could return them but they are dyed. I am so disappointed because all other products I have purchased are fantastic.

These scarves are sadly not a good texture. Seeming stiff and wrinkly vs soft and sumptuous. At one time Dharma offered different cotton scarves much nicer. I still wear one that I indigo dyed 15 years ago. The current cotton scarves are not keepers.

I think these are made out of a fabric which used to be called "nainsook" and was widely used in the early 20th century for ladies and girls sleepwear underthings and blouses. It softens with use and laundering air dries quickly and is lightweight and comfortable. I have made myself several summer nightgowns with this and can often use the existing hems to save on sewing. In the 1920's and 1930's it was often available in pastel colors prior to that it was usually white. I don't think that Dharma carries any fabric quite like this in the yardage. This is great as long as you know what to expect from it and how to use it.

Nice cotton but definitely not gauze. More like shirt material. I ordered the square scarf and it was hard to dye with Madder and Cochineal (I did mordant with Alum). Indigo worked very well. Made a stiff scarf may be better for dish cloth or large napkin.

Overall a decent sarong. They are a tight weave like a bandana but wash up a little softer. I would NOT say gauzy at all which can be a plus and a minus. They are a bit bulkier than actual gauzy sarongs so you can't wear them as scarves AS easily but they also survive the heat of batik work much better than the gauzy ones I have tried. They take the dye well and the wax easily melts out of them. They are not cut perfectly square but they do have a nice stitching and feel like a good overall quality product.

These are extra large 36" bandanas - I wouldn't call them scarves. They dye wonderfully. I offer them as bandanas headwraps or small tablecloths.

These 27" bandanas are slightly larger in size than the 12-pack that Dharma offers. Big enough to tie around your head and have a 3-4 inches left over - sort of like "Rhoda" from the 70s TV show. They dye beautifully.

Ahhh for the same price I get silk I had to dye it and crochet and edge to get something decent too stiff also. In the end though came with a cool scarf I use a lot!

Cotton is tight weave with good hand. Cut it in 12 length wise & did one as indigo pole wrap other silkscreened and dyed. Both are great
